Don't expect too much from Type42. It's just a PostScript wrapper
around a TrueType font which allows PostScript RIPs which contain a
TrueType engine (level 3 and newer level 2 engines) to process
TrueType fonts.

In XML parlance Type42 is not much more than

  <truetype_font>
    ...
  </truetype_font>

This is the reason dvips doesn't support TrueType yet. It's pretty
easy to apply the Type42 wrapper (which is well documented by Adobe)
but a lot has to be done to create a subset of a particular font.

Regards,
  Reinhard

Microsoft isn't the answer. Microsoft is the question, and the answer is NO.
