I now see that there is also an island of the same name;
I wonder which came first ?

the cited piece misses out on the link that
spurred don to establish the bank.
henry morriss, printer extraordinaire of the
bird & bull press, took the name and the
guardian's history and ran with it. his
excursion is described in some detail at
http://chiefacoins.com/Database/Micro-Nations/San-Seriffe.htm
i've heard henry lecture on the topic, and
it's definitely worth making an effort to
attend such a lecture should another one occur.
(or any talk by henry, for that matter.) the
output of the bird & bull press is also worth
exploring, especially for anyone interested
in type, paper, printing, and books in general.
